How to Use Black Ink on a Canon MX860

Turn on the printer and the attached computer. Boot up the operating system on the computer and allow all start-up procedures to finish.
Click the Windows or 'Start' button at the bottom left corner of the screen, then select the 'Printers' option from the menu, or click 'Control Panel' then 'Hardware' then 'Printers.'
Right-click the MX860's icon in the 'Printers' folder to bring up a pop-up menu. Click 'Preferences' or 'Properties' from the menu to open a new window.
Click the 'Main' tab and then click the box next to 'Grayscale Printing' so a check mark appears in the box. Click the 'Ok' button at the bottom of the window to save your selection.



Turn on the computer and printer and start up the operating system. Open the application you wish to print from.
Click 'File' in the application, then click 'Print.' Click on the 'Down' arrow to open an expanded print menu.
Click 'Quality and Media' from the expanded menu. Click the box next to 'Grayscale Printing' so a check mark appears in it, the click the 'Print' button at the bottom of the window.
