How to Buy a Brother Printer Waste Ink Tank (5 Steps)

Know the keywords. For example, Brother's official website is a natural starting point, but you won't find the tank by searching it as such. You'll want to search by 'waste' or 'toner cleaner,' as it is listed as a waste toner cleaner. It looks like a simple plastic container, and you can buy it directly from the site for $16.99.
If you've exhausted searching at the 'usual suspects'--your local office-supply retailer--check out Brother Mall. The manufacturer recommends it as a source for all kinds of hard-to-find Brother supplies and accessories. (Follow the link in Resources.)
Check and double-check the model number. No matter how or where you buy, ascertain that the tank will work with your specific Brother printer. You don't want to find out until it's too late that the tank isn't right. Hint: Online, the appropriate model is listed under the photo and price. Often, one letter or one number can make a big difference.
Familiarize yourself with the return process. Many times, these supplies are non-refundable if opened, making Step 3 all the more important.
Try discounted office-supply sites. Note: Not all will have this product. Many specialize in toners and cartridges. A good bet is Quill.com (see Resources), as well as OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) sites that are authorized to sell brands like Brother.
