How to Stop Printing (3 Steps)

Push the power button or switch on your printer to turn it off as soon as you realize you need to stop the printer. Your computer will usually recognize the loss of communication with your printer and alert you with a notification on your taskbar in the form of a balloon.
Click on the balloon notification to open the printer's queue in a window. If the balloon does not show up, or disappears before you can click on it, open the window manually. To do this click 'Start' and select 'Control Panel' from the start menu. Click on the icon for 'Printers' or 'Printers and Faxes.' Double click the icon for your printer.
Select the printing job that you were running by clicking it to highlight it. Click 'Documents' at the top of the page and click 'Cancel.' The document will be removed from the queue once it has canceled completely, and you can turn your printer back on.
