How to Scan Images Onto a Computer From a Canon Printer
Connect the all-in-one printer to your computer through the provided USB power cable. Install all drivers that came with the Canon product. Without the drivers the computer is unable to import scanned images to your system.

Click the 'Start' button, then choose 'All Programs,' 'Accessories' and select 'Scanner and Camera Wizard.' This is a pre-installed application found on all Windows-based computers.
Choose the 'Scan' option, then select the connected Canon all-in-one printer and click 'Scan' again. The image is scanned into your computer with a display of the picture on the screen.
Click 'File' in the upper left corner of the desktop, followed by 'Save.' A save window appears on the screen. Title the image, choose a location to save the file to and click 'OK.' The image file is now saved to your computer.

How to Configure SNMP for HP Printers

Type the following commands in the console window visible on the SNMP agent to configure the HP printer to output log files and enable SNMP management of the printer:
syslog-config: 1
syslog-svr: IP-Address-of-your-SYSLOG-server, or localhost
set-cmnty-name: My-SNMP-Password (set this to be your desired password on the printer)
Disable unnecessary services on the HP printer such as FTP, Internet Printing Protocol, and the Service Location Protocol to prevent the printer from being hacked. To do this, type the following commands in the console window of the SNMP Agent application:
passwd: Your-printers-password
ipp-config: 0
ftp-config: 0
ews-config: 0
snmp-config: 0
Close the SNMP Agent console window by selecting the 'FILE->EXIT' menu options of the SNMP Agent application. SNMP is now enabled on your desktop or laptop.

Press the 5610's 'Power' button so that it illuminates, indicating the printer has turned on, and boot up the attached computer as well. Wait for the printer to go through its warmup procedures and check the display screen to see if any error messages have appeared.
Lift the scanner's lid to open it and expose the scanning glass. Place the original document face-down in the left front corner of the glass, then close the lid slowly. Alternately, load the document face-up in the feed tray and adjust the width guide to the size of the paper.
Press the 'Scan' button on the printer's control panel. Use the arrow keys to cycle through the various software programs you can send the scan to. Once you have highlighted the program you want to use, press the 'OK' button to begin the scan.
Press the 'Start Black' button, if you want to scan the document in black and white instead of color. Wait for the preview window of the scanned document to appear automatically on the screen. Use the software's buttons and menus to make any changes to the document before saving it on your computer's hard drive.
