How to Scan From an HP Officejet 5610 All

Press the 5610's 'Power' button so that it illuminates, indicating the printer has turned on, and boot up the attached computer as well. Wait for the printer to go through its warmup procedures and check the display screen to see if any error messages have appeared.
Lift the scanner's lid to open it and expose the scanning glass. Place the original document face-down in the left front corner of the glass, then close the lid slowly. Alternately, load the document face-up in the feed tray and adjust the width guide to the size of the paper.
Press the 'Scan' button on the printer's control panel. Use the arrow keys to cycle through the various software programs you can send the scan to. Once you have highlighted the program you want to use, press the 'OK' button to begin the scan.
Press the 'Start Black' button, if you want to scan the document in black and white instead of color. Wait for the preview window of the scanned document to appear automatically on the screen. Use the software's buttons and menus to make any changes to the document before saving it on your computer's hard drive.
