How to Send a Fax From an All
Connect your all-in-one printer to a working phone line. Go to the setup menu of the printer if needed to complete any other task in the startup process.
Save your station ID to your printer's memory. The ID will be printed on the cover page and all other pages that are faxed from your machine. Some printers allow you to create sets of custom comments that you can automatically include on the cover page as well.
Feed the documents you want to fax into your all-in-one printer. The proper orientation of the pages depends on the printer, but the usual way is face down.
Choose the proper resolution for your document. Small type, fine line details and images demand higher resolutions than normal.
Allow the printer to automatically adjust for contrast unless you are faxing an unusually light or dark document. If needed, adjust manually for special situations.
Establish a dial tone. If your all-in-one printer shares the line with another phone, make sure that the other phone is off the line.
Use the control panel to dial the fax number or access any pre-saved numbers. Some printers will allow you to store fax numbers--the equivalent of speed-dial.
Wait for the printer's fax light indicator to go on. Beeps, lights and display panel messages are the most common ways an all-in-one printer will let you know it is ready to go.
Push the start button and let the faxing begin.
