How to Install Mac Printer Drivers (9 Steps)

Acquire the Mac printer driver either by downloading it or getting it on CD. Most printers come with the drivers needed to run the printer. You can also check the printer manufacturer's website to get the correct drivers.
Be sure that your printer is connected to your Mac and turned on. Reboot your computer if you connected the printer after your last reboot.
Double click on the .dmg or installer file for the driver. If you got the software on CD instead of downloading it, load the CD into your Mac and then double click on the .dmg file. This is called 'unpacking' the software.
'Mount' the printer driver by copying the files to your hard drive. To do this, just drag and drop the files into the folder where you want to save your software. The Mac will then copy the files to the location you specified.
Follow any further instructions the installation software gives you to complete the installation process.
'Eject' the .dmg or installer file. To do this, drag the file from your desktop into the trash can.
Open the Print Center on your Mac and then click the 'ALT' key and 'Add' at the same time. You should see a list of printers that includes the one you are installing. Choose this printer and click the 'Add' button in the dialog box.
Reboot your computer if you do not see the printer on the list. Be sure that the printer is turned on and connected to your Mac first.
Your printer might already be on the printer list before you install the manufacturer software. If this is the case, remove it from the printer list before you install the software. Then add the printer back to the list.

How to Use PHP with a Thermal Printer

Connect your thermal printer to your computer. Make sure all cables are tightly connected to your computer ports before setting up your printer in PHP.
Install all of the necessary drivers for your printer if it is not plug-and-play. Some newer operating systems, such as Windows Vista and Windows 7, should automatically install it for you, but always be ready to do it manually if that doesn't happen. Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to install drivers.
Use the following code to install and use your thermal printer in PHP:
This code establishes the connection with the receipt printer through PRN, writes to the receipt printer through the file handle, and then disconnects the printer after printing your document.

How to Add a Printer (7 Steps)

To add a printer, first follow your printer's instruction manual to assemble your printer and connect it to your computer. When you are ready to install the software, have your printer's CD-ROM or floppy disk handy.
Open the Start menu and choose Settings, then Printers.
Double-click on Add Printers.
Follow the instructions provided by the Print wizard. If you're adding a network printer, be sure to find out its name or network path. To make sure you're using the most recent printer driver, insert your printer CD-ROM or floppy disk when asked. You can also choose a preinstalled driver that matches the printer make and model you're trying to add, but it might be older than a driver that came with the printer. (If you're installing a networked printer, ask your system administrator if there are newer drivers available on the network.)
When prompted, indicate whether you want to use this printer as the default. If you have only one printer, you will say yes. If you have two, you must choose which one is to be the default.
When asked if you want to print a test page, it is a good idea to say yes.
When satisfied, click Finish to complete the installation process.
