How to Use a Printer

Using a printer even basic printer is extremely easy to do. There are many different models of printers out there. You have your very basic to your all-in-one printer. The printer with everything on it works pretty much just like the regular printer you just have a lot more buttons to push.
Make sure that your printer is hooked up properly before using it. If this is a brand new printer then it will go through a check and print out a test page for you. A lot of different times you can just turn it on, you will hear the ink moving around. Something might come up on the computer telling you that the printer is on and working properly.
Open the page you want to print. If you are on the Internet and want to print something from there. All you have to do is go up to file, then down to page set up. This will give you more printing options to choose from. When you are done setting up the page you can verify you have the right printer hooked up by clicking on 'Printer' at the bottom. Once everything looks good click on 'OK' and now your page should print out.
Open up a '.doc' file if that is where your page is that you need to print. When you are ready to print go up to 'File' and 'Print Setup'. Again you can choose how you want your page to look, and check and make sure the right printer is installed. If your page is set up the way you like it you can just click on the printer icon on the tool bar or go to 'File' then 'Print.'
Using a printer a lot over time will start to wear down your ink supply. Some models of printers let you know when your ink supply is getting low. If you have an older printer you will just have to go by what the printed page looks like. If it is very worn and faded then it is time to install a new ink cartridge.

How to Make Your Own Window Clings With an Inkjet Printer

Prepare your image for the window cling on your computer (using programs such as Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator).
Insert a sheet of inkjet cling film (such as HYAZ Inkjet Ultra Cling or MCG Papers Window Cling for Inkjet), making sure the rough side is placed for printing.
Print your image on the inkjet cling film one sheet at a time (if available, use the manual paper tray instead of the automatic paper tray).
Set the printed page aside and allow the ink to dry for approximately five minutes.
Cut out your design, if desired, and arrange your printed images in a single layer on a flat surface.
Place a clean plastic sheet over the printed design(s) and place a weight such as a book on top to keep the paper flat as it dries thoroughly overnight.
Remove the paper backing from the printed film and place on the inside of your window.
Gently smooth away any bubbles, if visible.

How to Perform Printer Maintenance (14 Steps)

Turn off the printer and unplug any attached cables. Move the printer to a good accessible location.
Remove paper trays. Open the printer cover and gently remove the toner cartridge, being careful not to shake it. Place it on a clean sheet of paper.
Clean the inside of the printer with a lint-free cloth. Laser printers sometimes come with a small brush for cleaning the toner dust from the hard-to-reach spots. If one is not supplied, you can use a clean, dry paintbrush.
Moisten a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently clean the rollers to remove any buildup.
Replace the toner cartridge once the unit is cleaned and dry. Close the cover and clean the outside of the printer with a cloth moistened with a mild cleaner suitable for plastic.
Wipe down the paper trays with a clean cloth and replace. Return the printer to its normal location and plug the cables in.
Print a blank page to remove any last dust or toner particles.



Turn the printer off, unplug the cables and move to a good location for cleaning.
Remove paper. Open the printer to gain access to the ink cartridges and paper rollers. Check to see if there are any ink drips or stains on the inside of the unit. Clean the ink spots with a cotton swab moistened with rubbing alcohol.
Moisten a clean cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently clean the paper rollers. If the swab gets dirty, use a new swab. Using a lint-free cloth, wipe the inside of the printer to remove the dust from the printer. Close printer cover. Return the printer to its usual spot. Plug in the cables and replace the paper in the paper tray. Turn the printer on and open the printer's software program.
Go to the Tools section of your printer software and run a print head cleaning cycle, following the onscreen instructions.
Before you install a new ink cartridge, take a cotton swab moistened with rubbing alcohol and gently wipe the contacts in the receptacle where the new ink cartridge will go. This keeps the contacts clean and helps prevent printing problems and ink error messages.
Print at least one page a week to keep the ink nozzles on the cartridge clear and clog-free.

If you have you have the installation CD that came with your printer, insert it into the CD-drive of your laptop and complete the installation process.
